The South Australian Broadband Research and Education Network (SABRENet) is the optical fibre network that connects major Research and Education sites in Adelaide, including university campuses, research precincts, teaching hospitals, TAFEs and schools to local, national and international research and education resources.

SABRENet provides researchers with very high-speed broadband connectivity and the ability to handle large volumes of data.

The owners jointly decided in 2003 to create the optical fibre network to support the broadband needs of the local research and education community. The initial network was constructed in 2006 and began operating in January 2007 with connections to 40 sites. The network has now grown to 160 sites connected by over 200 kilometres of optical fibre cables.

SABRENet Ltd is the non-profit public company formed to oversee the development, management and effective use of SABRENet.
