Access to GigCity expands across Adelaide - 15 additional precincts for GigCity Stage 2

The State Government announced an expansion to the GigCity program to connect an additional 15 sites with access to ultra high-speed internet, as part of the Government's $7.6 million GigCity project.

The new precincts are located across Adelaide’s metropolitan area, including seven in the north, six in the CBD and one each in the west and south of Adelaide. Tenants including cultural institutions, large companies, small and medium-sized enterprises and start-ups within these precincts, who will be connected to high-speed internet that is up to 100-times faster than the national average.

The South Australian Broadband Research and Education Network (SABRENet) will connect the selected precincts to its fibre optic network from February 2018, subject to agreements being signed and pricing plans start from $49.90 per month, to be provided by EscapeNet.

The additional GigCity precincts were selected as part of a competitive Expression of Interest process which commenced in 2017, was managed by the Department of State Development and received more than 50 applications.

SABRENet signs agreement with EscapeNet as GigCity service partner

EIn June 2017 EscapeNet signed an agreement to provide affordable speedy gigabit services to key innovation precincts via the SABRENet fibre optic network

EscapeNet will provide GigCity Adelaide customers with local support, a portal to manage plans and connections, and add-on services and seamless integration to key cloud platforms

On Monday 28th September 2015 SABRENet celebrated 10 years of inauguration with a well attended cocktail party. The cocktail party and networking event provided an opportunity for people involved with SABRENet since its inception, together with participants, industry figures and representatives from SABRENet connected sites to network and celebrate this exciting milestone.
